Muscoy Elementary School students have new places to compete on the court, take learning outdoors and step into the spotlight following the opening of an outdoor learning and recreation space celebrated at a September 24 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Cordell Hadnot first saw Edward Waters University while on a summer college tour that took him from San Bernardino to Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Three months later, the university’s answer came to him at Cajon High School: he was in!

Four SBCUSD campuses—Cajon High School, Middle College High School, Richardson PREP HI Middle School and Rodriguez PREP Academy Middle School—earned a 2026 California Distinguished School Award from the California Department of Education (CDE).
